Introduction

Endometriosis is a common gynecological condition with adverse effects on women’s health, fertility and quality of life. In the past endometriosis was only detectable at surgery which often caused long delays in reaching the correct diagnosis and initiating appropriate treatment. In recent years ultrasound diagnosis of pelvic endometriosis has undergone a radical transformation. Previously, the only value of ultrasound was detection of relatively large ovarian endometriomas. Now ultrasound examination in not only used to detect the presence of pelvic endometriosis, but also to perform a detailed pre-operative mapping of the disease, assess its severity and evaluate the success of surgical treatment. The ability of correlate women’s symptoms with location and size of endometriotic lesions helps to devise individualised management plans and facilitates the use of non-surgical management options.

The faculty includes some of the most prominent experts in this area who will provide a comprehensive and up to date review of the role of ultrasound in both the diagnosis and management of endometriosis. The meeting is aimed at gynecologists, fertility specialists, radiologists, sonographers and other health professionals who are providing care to women presenting with gynecological complaints.
